StarCaster® Automated Volmet System

The StarCaster® VOLMET system is for managers of Air Traffic Control Towers and Flight Service Stations who need a reliable method of generating VOLMET broadcasts that pilots can easily understand. StarCaster VOLMET is a fully automated VOLMET text-to-speech server/client system that provides an automatic method of generating multiple broadcasts of weather and airport conditions. Unlike competitors who depend upon general-purpose speech synthesis systems, StarCaster VOLMET rapidly creates clear and consistent VOLMET broadcasts using a natural voice.

StarCaster VOLMET was designed to automatically download weather information in text format and convert the weather text into high quality voice output for broadcast to aircraft in flight. This PC-based, fully automated VOLMET system is effortless to use, and makes more efficient use of valuable labor resources since it eliminates the need to perform labor-intensive live manual broadcasts.

Using STR's proven and award-winning text-to-speech technology, the StarCaster® VOLMET system provides the ultimate clear, natural voice, essential for critical message broadcasting. The VOLMET broadcasts include ICAO recommended METAR, SPECI, TAF and SIGMET information.

The StarCaster® VOLMET system decodes incoming weather data, converts it into expanded text and into a natural voice for broadcast. Weather data errors are flagged by the system and optionally logged. The operator is able to correct the error before broadcast if required, and can also perform a vocabulary search if missing words or errors are found.
