StarCaster® RIS Broadcast System
The StarCaster® Range Information Service (RIS) Automated Broadcast System is for Managers of military training ranges who need to rapidly create or update broadcasts of current range activities. StarCaster RIS uses STR’s broadcast-quality Text-to-Speech software system® to provide a simple way of creating and broadcasting new range conditions in a clear and consistent voice. Unlike the current practice that requires the operator to record the entire contents of a new broadcast onto a tape loop whenever conditions change, StarCaster RIS is used to only update the information that has changed, allowing the operator to create a new broadcast in about 30 seconds.
STR-SpeechTech also provides an easily installed hardware interface to existing radio equipment. StarCaster RIS also allows direct access of range information data from System Atlanta’s IDS/5 information display system, thereby eliminating human transcription errors while enhancing flight safety and reducing flight crew workload.
