StarCaster® ATIS Broadcast System
StarCaster® ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Service) is for air traffic management and controllers who need a reliable method of generating ATIS broadcasts that pilots can easily understand. The system provides air traffic controllers with a way to rapidly create clear and consistent ATIS messages, eliminating human transcription errors while enhancing flight safety and reducing flight crew workload. StarCaster ATIS is delivered with a natural English voice, with other languages and accents available as an option.
StarCaster ATIS is based on the award-winning technology and superior quality speech output generated from the original StarCaster® Text-to-Speech System. The StarCaster® ATIS System is a PC-based COTS product that meets and exceeds the needs of the aviation industry.
Unlike competitors, whose systems require controllers to break from routine for up to 10 minutes to make a recording each time a new ATIS is needed, StarCaster ATIS generates a reliable broadcast in about 30 seconds.
STR also provides an easily installed hardware interface to existing radio equipment. StarCaster ATIS also automatically transfers the ATIS text to an existing Datalink server for transmission to aircraft via CPDLC
The StarCaster ATIS System provides a high quality, fully automated replacement to manually-produced ATIS broadcasts, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The system is designed to automatically receive ATIS weather information from the facility's existing weather data source (i.e. AWOS, ASOS, IDS-5, AFTN/AMHS, N-TFS). This weather information is incorporated into the ATIS message along with other terminal information used to produce voice output for the ATIS broadcasts.
