STR-SpeechTech Receives Innovative Excellence Award

Victoria, BC, May 22, 2008--STR-SpeechTech Ltd. (STR), an established innovator in speech technology solutions, announced that it received the important distinction of “Innovative Excellence: Process or Product” at the recent Vancouver Island Advanced Technology Centre (VIATeC) awards.

The award honored STR’s proprietary StarCaster® Text-to-Speech process, a technology incorporated into all of STR’s aviation and automated broadcast-related products and services. The StarCaster technology has become a benchmark for high quality voice output, raising the bar in not just the Aviation industry but also the text-to-speech industry in general. STR’s ATIS System, which uses the StarCaster technology, has been nominated for various awards in the recent past, in part due to StarCaster’s essential and unequaled process.

STR was presented with the award at the VIATeC awards gala, held recently at the Victoria Convention Centre. The Innovative Excellence: Process or Product award recognizes a company that has researched and designed an innovative process or product that is expected to revolutionize a sector, method of business or way of life.

StarCaster technology has been successfully integrated with Lockheed Martin’s Flight Service for the 21st Century (FS21) technology suite at Automated Flight Service Stations across the USA. The technology has also been receiving growing international attention, with contracts for the StarCaster ATIS System reaching Europe and South America.
