STR-SpeechTech Ltd. (STR) is a leading supplier of text-to-speech systems for mission-critical broadcasting applications. Located in Victoria,
Canada, STR has been dedicated to meeting our customers' needs for high quality speech and signal processing products for over 25 years. Our StarCaster®
text-to-speech systems are deployed throughout the world at Air Traffic Control Towers and Flight Service Stations, where the ability to generate clear
and consistent aviation information broadcasts is a key component of operational efficiency and safety. StarCaster systems adhere to ICAO standards and
recommendations, and are recognized by the international air traffic management community for their reliability and ease of use.
STR is proud to have over 100 StarCaster ATIS, VOLMET and related systems installed at air traffic facilities throughout Canada and the United States,
including facilities managed by Nav Canada, the FAA, the US Air Force, US Army and US Coast Guard. In addition, our growing international presence includes
installations with ANSPs in Argentina, Aruba, Azerbaijan, British Virgin Islands, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Iceland, Ireland, Iraq, Mexico and Nigeria.
Our Values
History
Beginning in 1983, STR existed as a non-profit society and operated under the name Centre for Speech Technology Research (CSTR). CSTR was located at the University of Victoria in Victoria, B.C. Canada. Technologies developed at CSTR encouraged the organization to offer marketable solutions in the work they were doing, and in 1989 STR was incorporated as a private corporation where they continue to operate in Victoria.
STR has a proven track record in applied scientific research and system design. Years of academic and professional experience in research and development, and constant attention to the most recent advances in computer technology, have earned the company an international reputation for excellence in its field. Our team has extensive professional experience in acoustics, applied linguistics, computer science, digital signal processing, mathematics, phonetics and psychology, making STR the world leader in many speech technology areas.
